Going on vacation is a lovely idea. Who wouldn’t want to be away from the noisy streets of the city even just for a weekend? Why wouldn’t anyone want to relax, whether alone or with a companion, and just enjoy the travel experience?
There’s really no question on the beauty of travelling itself, but this may not be the case when you’re still in the preparation stage. To tell the truth, preparing for vacation can be stressful, especially when it’s your first time going on a trip. There are just so many things to take care of – like your itinerary or your tickets – that you tend to overlook important details related to your luggage. That’s when you end up exceeding the weight limit when you get to the airport or losing important things during the trip.
Here are some tips on packing for your vacation.
Get a backpack: It’s not like you’re going to be away forever, so forget about that bulky suitcase. A backpack should be enough to store everything you need for the trip. It also has many compartments with zippers that let you organize your stuff. More importantly, a backpack is much easier to carry than a suitcase.
Choose what to pack (wisely): Now this can be a tricky task as you might feel like you need to bring your entire house or office with you on the trip. Remember that it’s your time to relax. Stick to the essentials – few and appropriate pieces of clothing, medicine and a first aid kit, travel documents and passport. Don’t bring your laptop, especially if you’ll only use it for free online games.
Bring a pouch: This is where you’ll put some of your money, so you won’t have to open your backpack every time you get money. Get one with multiple compartments as well, so you can also store the things that you’ll need often, like your phone, alcohol, plane ticket or passport.
Label your things: This is an essential thing to do to. Not that you’re expecting losses, but it’s always better to be prepared. Put a bag tag with your name and contact information on your backpack. A sticker with the same pieces of information would do for your other things like your camera. Put a couple of business cards in your backpack.
Getting ready for a vacation, particularly packing your things, can be stressful in itself, but it’s better to do it the right way than be more stressed when you’re already on the trip.
