The 4 Essentials for Any Holiday Trip

Most of us can’t leaving home without our mobile phones. It’s like going out without your wallet or eyeglasses… you simply can’t go through the day without it.

When it comes to vacation, others can’t go without toting along a digicam, to male sure they capture the memories for posterity. Others make sure they have their makeup kit, or a handy tube of lipstick.

Whatever your destination may be, there are some things you simply can’t do without. Make sure you always bring along these four essentials, to make you next trip hassle- and worry-free.

Here they are, listed in order of importance.

IDs

It may sound like a stupid thing to do, but most people nowadays remember to bring their iPhones more than their ID cards.

Carrying an ID is critical in case you get accosted by the local authorities, get caught in a jam, or in worst cases, have an accident. It helps to identify you, as well as seek help. When traveling within the US, always bring along a couple of IDs: your work ID and a government-issued one, such as your driver’s license or social security card.

When travelling abroad, always keep your passport with you at all times. It can get stolen if left in your hotel room, and you might need as identification to the local police, or to seek help from your embassy.

Credit card

This plastic card can be a life saver in more ways than one. In case you lose your cash, you can always charge your expense to your credit account. It can save you from a sudden case of fasting because you lost all your cash. But of course, it’s better to carry the local currency, as your credit card might not be acceptable everywhere. Use it as a last resort.

Map

No sane tourist would go wandering without knowing how to get around. Whether it’s an old fashioned map or a high-tech GPS device, you need to where you are, how to get to your destination, and how to return to your accomodation at all times.

If spending for a personal GPS unit is too much, carry a pocket map instead of a full-size one. It’s much less hassle when you have to look up your location, and it can easily fit in your pocket rather than your bag.

Cellphone

It used to be that the only form of mobile communication was the pager. If you wanted to call someone, you needed to find the nearest payphone, and plunk down coins in theĀ local currency. Not anymore.

A cellphone can help you get out of a tight spot, whether its calling for help or contacting the embassy hotline. Or if you just to call back home.
